Sensory, natural and sophisticated décors
by Emmanuelle Opezzo
At the intersection of craftsmanship and design, where mural art meets the quiet poetry of nature,
Emmanuelle Opezzo creates bespoke frescoes and hand-painted wallpapers in which the vitality of the gesture
encounters the calm presence of mineral and plant forms.
Her universe — at once ethereal and graphic — brings a deeply immersive aesthetic to exceptional interiors.
Contemporary bas-reliefs and raw-earth finishes introduce a gentle visual rhythm, inviting stillness,
balance and contemplation.
From the alchemy of words to the poetry of gesture
Emmanuelle Opezzo’s path is shaped by a search for harmony, as the rigour of her former career in finance
gradually yielded to the tactile language of brush and pigment. An artist first and foremost, she trained in drawing from an early age.
The writings of Christian Bobin and Emily Dickinson continue to nourish her practice, their vibrational quality finding expression
in her surfaces — a sense of meaning that is both grasped and elusive.
She later trained in traditional decorative painting techniques at the École Française de Décor in Bordeaux,
before joining d’Offard, Blundell et Therrien and Patricia De La Torre, where she refined her technical mastery and gained
insight into the life and rhythm of the studio.
Over time, she developed a distinctive visual language informed by Impressionist sensibilities and the aesthetic presence
of Olga de Amaral’s work. In 2024, she founded her own atelier, embracing an approach that moves beyond traditional decorative painting. She conceives her work as a process of artistic sedimentation — where texture becomes the vessel of pure emotion.
A studio-laboratory of elements:
rigour and authenticity
Emmanuelle’s studio functions as a laboratory of the senses, where each material mixture is carefully developed. She produces her own binders and works primarily with natural pigments — earths, ochres and oxides — creating palettes that feel both raw and refined, always with a commitment to environmentally responsible practices.
Her expertise unfolds through both traditional and unconventional tools — brushes, knives, sponges, brooms, foams and bark — and across a wide range
of surfaces: the warmth of wood, the delicacy of paper, the strength of canvas, specially formulated mineral plasters, and the luminosity of glass.
Whether working in the studio or in situ, she frees herself from constraints of scale, expressing the intimate and the monumental alike, transforming textured walls into living, organic presences.
A universe between graphic abstraction
and organic breath
Emmanuelle Opezzo’s aesthetic moves between structured geometric compositions and soft, atmospheric gradients
shaped by organic curves. Her abstract works engage with shadow, depth and granular texture, evoking wind moving
through tall grasses, ripples across water, the rings of a tree, or the quiet power of animal forms.
Whether creating a mural within an interior architecture project or a contemporary bas‑relief, she explores the density
and expressive potential of matter, capturing light through refined patinas and delicate gilding in gold
or copper leaf applied to raw earth. She favours immersive formats, allowing the viewer to inhabit a suspended
moment in time, guided by her enduring conviction that: “beauty is enough”.
Rather than yielding
to the impatience of seeing
the final image emerge,
I embrace slowness
the grounding presence
of layered materials.
This is the process
of sedimentation.
Creative dialogue at the heart of each project
Based in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Emmanuelle Opezzo works closely with architects and interior designers, translating their architectural vision into material form.
Her process begins with attentive dialogue and the sharing of samples, followed by an in-studio research phase exploring textures, finishes and tonal balance. Bespoke mock-ups enable the material presence and visual resonance to be fully validated before final production. Each finished piece becomes an invitation to experience space differently.
For more complex schemes, she collaborates with fellow craftspeople, ensuring seamless integration across architectural and furniture elements, honouring the dialogue between craft and design.
